Today I want to show you how to make a great work of art with your bottle caps and an old frame!
Supplies:
Scrap Fabric
Bottle caps
Old Frame (No need for the glass)
Hot glue gun
*Optional Spray paint
*Optional yoyo maker small 30mm I believe
** If you do not have a yoyo maker you can use this tutorial:
Making yoyos with maker...
First choose fabric and cut around your circle leaving enough to sew with.
Once you have the beginning done you will insert your cap before pulling tight.
Then pull tight and secure thread by knotting.
It will look like this on front.
This is the back..
So first I wanted to cover all my bottle caps so you will need to make yoyos, if you have the small yoyo maker just use the maker then before tightening it insert your bottle cap.
Finished it will look like this...
The back will look like this...
Here are my first few, I just love the way they look!
Next I am painting my frame...
After...
Once dried.... It looks more red in real life lol
Next I take my backing from the frame and lay it face down on a white piece of paper/cardstock whatever you have on hand. Then glue that piece down to the back...This will be your background color
Before glueing bottle caps on insert back into frame.
It is important that you glue bottle caps while frame is on otherwise the frame may not fit if your bottle cap happens to land where the frame is supposed to go.
Before glueing lay them out a few times to make sure you like the pattern or in my case the lack of.
Be sure to try a few different ways and to make sure you dont leave any large gaps.
Once you are happy get that glue gun out!
So here you can see where I am putting the glue on. When you put this down on backing be sure to firmly press down so it doesn't sit raised.
Then keep glueing...
And glueing....
Until you have exactly what you imagined!
So thats it thats my new piece of art for my craft room! And a great way to use up little fabric scraps and bottle caps!
