Been a while...

So it has been a while since I have posted I am sorry. I started cleaning and getting rid of some of my stash. I couldn't take the clutter so my craft room has been out of commission. However I am happy to say now that it is pretty much done. Lol as done as I am going to get it for now. So anyway here are some pics of my craft room now I would like it to be cuter and I am working on that but I just needed to get this done. Here are the pics...

So in this picture is a ton of my larger pieces of fabric and some sheets and just some random pieces.

Here is my desk, I know hard to tell but its there. Like I said its not totally 100% done but it is good enough.

Here is my sewing table. Notice my one of a kind thread hangers. My husband made it for me and bought tons of thread to fill it up.

This is inside my closet. Ya all these dressers are filled with yarn (even the ones in previous pic next to sewing table)  from that estate sale, and funny thing is I have sold a lot of it already.

And more fabric batting and yarn. Also my soap making supplies in top shelf.

So theres a look inside my craft room. I know not the best but I went from a huge room into my sons nursery so it's been a hard transformation. (Thats why the spongebob poster)

Baby Bib

.So first you will need a baby bib to get your template or like I said if you don't have one play around a little and make your own.  If you only plan on making one or two printer paper or an old magazine paper will work. However if you plan on making several I would use cardboard or card stock something stiff that will last a little longer.

Here I have joined two pieces together with masking tape.

If using a bib you already have then you will lay the bib on your paper to make template.

Trace around it. It does Not have to be perfect. Just get the idea of where curves are and where they are not.

Cut that out. Again does not have to be perfect.

Now gather your fabrics, If you want to do piecework or what ever be creative. There are tons of possibilities.

Pin that fabric to the template.

Cut around it allowing about 1/2 in or so. It really doesn't matter if there's smooth edges. Now I messed up here, if doing over I would pin both the front and back to the template to save time.

Now you have a front and a back. Since I was kind of experimenting I did not add velcro but this is where you would. in the top little corner things.

Now put them right sides together and sew around with your about 1/2in seam allowance. Leave about a 3in opening to turn you'r fabric.
Where there are curves you will want to make little slits but do not cut your seam. This will prevent pulling when turned out.

Here it is turned. Now iron it flat tucking that excess in, it should fall right into place.

Now you want to sew around the whole bib as close to the edge as you can. And viola! Done! That was a quick and easy project.

There are so many possibilities. You can applique it, if you embroider then you could do that or just leave it cute and simple!

Here's my happy customer...

(NOTE: this looks a little tighter around the neck but that's because I pinned it for photo sake. If I used velcro it would be looser and better fitting)

Baby Quilt/ play mat...

So maybe you remember a while back I started this baby quilt or play mat. I have finally got around to finishing quilting. Here are some pics.

So here it is all quilted up now we need to cut all the excess batting and backing.

Close up of the hand quilting.

Here it is all trimmed up.

Here's the back I love the way it looks hand quilted, it gives it that pillowy look.

And my binding all made. (By the way I got a binding maker folder thingy and I was so excited. Now maybe its just me but It worked about for the first 2 feet or so. I was not impressed.)

Now time to add the binding, I usually hand sew the binding but for some reason probably the fact that I have been looking at this thing for 2 months I kinda didn't feel like it. I decided to machine sew it. And for some reason (again probably rushing) but my corners got messed up. I will have to fix it or give it to my kids lol

Here it is all binded up it looks great!

A close up

The back again...

Another close up. Hope you like! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Crochet Quilt...

I spent almost my whole day yesterday working on this and I finally am almost done! I must say I really like the look I am getting! I love the fact that its a great yarn stash buster and if you only have 5 minutes to work you can pick it up work then just set it right down, without turning on machine iron etc. I have just been storing these cute squares. I would actually have liked to make it bigger but I think its a good size. So here are the pics finally put together!

Here it is all laid out.

A closer look..

Crochet the rows together!...

One row down...

Here's a close up I love the way this looks!

Here's 4 rows together..

In progress, Now off to crochet the horizontal rows.

T-Shirt Rug aka Flokati Rug

So I was telling you about the T-shirt rug the other day and I thought I would show you some pictures. As I said in a previous post this is about 2 maybe closer to 3 years of work (off and on of course!)
Here are the scraps laid out across the couch. It may not look like a lot but it is a lot. Every time I work on it for about an hour I think my bucket will be closer to empty and it never is.

Here's a close up of what it looks like.

Landon loves to play with all the colorful scraps! Especially the hems. (This is probably why its taken so long  lol)

Here is a top view of what I have got done (It was supposed to be a rainbow design however I bought it at a garage sale much cheaper than buying the large latch hook canvas thing from the craft store.)

Here is the back view. Now I kind of made a mistake here, if you are planning on making one of these do not tie in every space do every other space like a checker board. My rug is so heavy already and it is a lot harder to work with. I have another started and doing it in checker fashion it feels better and doesn't look like a huge mound. I will have to cut these pieces down when finished so it will lay a bit flatter.

So there it is it is getting closer to half way. But still quite a ways away. It is amazing to see how when you start a project you swear to have it done in a reasonable amount of time and then you have to force yourself to do any work on it at all, even when you know it will look great!

Anyway to make these I have no idea how many T-shirts go into these but there are lots (roughly 50 ish so far). For me it wasn't going to buy these I figure people clean out their closets all the time so I posted a wanted ad on Craigslist and asked if anyone had t shirts they didn't want or need. Most had holes or paint etc but you can cut around those or use them. It depends what look you are going for. Also for more supplies use the hems of your shirts you can or cannot cut out the stitching it may be tougher with it but make sure to use them because it is perfectly good fabric for this.  My other one is a gray full latch hook canvas. I have taken the whites from shirts or old under shirts etc and dyed them a deep gray however It is taking me a lot longer to get just white. But its good because if the whites have logos they go in this rug! I just love the possibilities.
